Helen Harrison & Company awarded research project by OAA Digital Group

The OOA Digital Group comprises 10 media owners who operate in the Digital Outdoor arena. The companies represented include JC Decaux, Maiden and Viacom together with a number of operators who specialise in screen based media. These companies sell media on ATM machines, screens in bars, buses, malls, hairdresses, Post Offices, health clubs, train stations, airports and retail TV that has been tailored for a given retailer eg. Tesco TV.

In 2004, Digital outdoor media sales revenues were £19.6m, while 2005 growth seems well set to achieve the predicted levels of +44%. The latest quarterly figures for digital outdoor illustrate continued growth in the market to £5.83m gross revenue JulY - September, a year over year increase of +21.3%. Total outdoor increased by 4% to £222.1m quarter 3 2005 vs. 2004.

As a body, the OAA Digital members believe that screenmedia industry has reached a level of critical mass that warrants acknowledgment that "it's arrived" as a medium - People see screenmedia advertising and it gets remembered

As individual members have previously operated independently, media buyers have not had visibility of the collective strength of the medium. With this in mind, the OAA Digital members will be running a single campaign across all of the screen based networks they sell media sales on.

Helen Harrison & Company will be undertaking a research study to investigate whether critical mass has been achieved.
